Alumna Becomes Youngest Ever Participant in Business Accelerator Program

Just two months after graduating from The Studio School, Layla is already running her jewellery business full-time and has been accepted into Orbit by Bloom, a 12-month business accelerator program supporting young entrepreneurs to grow and scale their ventures. As the youngest-ever participant in the program, Layla still brings years of experience, having started her business at just 14 years old.

Layla says her time at The Studio School helped shape the way she approaches opportunities. “TSS taught me to just give things a go. The worst that can happen is someone says no, and if you don’t try, you won’t get anywhere,” she explains.

A key part of her learning was Project Time, which allowed her to run her business alongside school commitments. Through this, Layla developed strong skills in self-discipline, organisation, and prioritisation, all of which she now draws on as a full-time business owner.

Reflecting on her pathway, Layla says the supportive community at TSS played a big role in building her confidence. “I was able to dedicate more time to my business and career than I would have at a regular school. All the teachers were encouraging, but especially Nina, Nicole, and Nat, who really pushed me to do my best and helped me realise my potential.”

Now focused on growing Joya Jewellery, Layla is excited to strengthen her systems and operations, build revenue, and continue developing her brand and community. She is also preparing to launch a brand-new bikini range, featuring hand-drawn designs she has been developing since October. Drawing inspiration from fashion, nature, and time spent camping, 4WDing, and at the beach, Layla turns everyday experiences into meaningful designs.

Her advice to current and future Studio School students is simple: try everything, stay open-minded, and use Project Time wisely. “It’s such a valuable opportunity to dedicate time to something you love, and it can really shape your future.”

We’re proud to share Layla’s journey and look forward to seeing where it leads next.
