The end of 2025 marked a significant milestone for Lucas (Year 11). With personal relevance to his business Glossy Boys, Lucas has been at the centre of the conversations around young people and Australia'a social media ban, sharing his perspective across several major Australian and international platforms.
During Workplace Learning, Lucas worked alongside fellow student Graeme, placed at Channel 7, on an interview that aired on Channel 7 and was featured by Perth Now. In the interview, he spoke about youth entrepreneurship and the realities of navigating digital spaces as a young person today.
Lucas also appeared as a panellist in a live discussion alongside leaders Jacqueline McGowan Jones (Commissioner for Children and Young People WA) and Professor Marie Yap (psychologist and professor at Monash University.) The panel unpacked the impacts of Australia’s social media ban and its implications for young people.
His commentary continued to reach wider audiences through a segment filmed in the Channel 9 News Perth studio, examining how Australian teenagers are responding to changing social media regulations.
Then through further coverage by CNN International and an appearance on German national news, Lucas’ voice travelled well beyond Perth, contributing thoughtfully to a global conversation and reinforcing the importance of youth perspectives in discussions around technology, regulation and wellbeing.
On top of this, Lucas shared his experience as a young founder on a panel at the Young Entrepreneurs Showcase at West Tech Fest, joining other emerging innovators to discuss youth-led business and entrepreneurship.
We are extremely proud of the confidence, clarity and thoughtfulness Lucas brings to these conversations, and of the way he represents himself and The Studio School. We look forward to seeing what the next chapter holds for Lucas.
