Open Mic at The Studio School

Something that we value here at The Studio School is giving our students the opportunity to learn from others. A program that we have in place to support that learning is Open Mic.

Open Mic is an opportunity for our students to hear from people who are part of our community, the Fremantle community, or a member of an external community. Open Mic speakers talk about their lives, careers and pathways sharing their learnings and journeys with our students.

Throughout the last two years we have been honoured to host many amazing guests as part of our Open Mic series.

This year we have hosted people such as:

Hannah Fitzhardinge, the Mayor of Fremantle who spoke about her role as Mayor and what her day-to-day life is like. She shared her future aspirations for Fremantle and the actions she intends to make.

Amber-Jade Sanderson the Western Australian Minister for Health and Mental Health who spoke about her journey in parliament, and answered questions about the gaps she has seen in the current health system as well as her plans for the coming year.

Banjo Lucia, a musician from Perth who shared her journey with us and spoke about what it is like to start up in the music industry. Banjo also performed two of her songs live for our students.

Shane Woewodin an ex Australian rules football player, who shared the highs and lows of AFL, the game, and the community; he also spoke about his life after AFL.

Thank you to these speakers and the many others who have offered their time and shared with our students, contributing to their learning and their perception of the world.
